The PMTT D.E.W. Award

The D.E.W. Award is basically a good sportsmanship, feel good, award for two teams or individuals each year. Each year the PMTT takes letters, emails or phone calls from their anglers from throughout the year and then picks two teams or individuals who will receive a plaque and a $500 check for each. The award could be based on anything, from hard luck stories to good deeds. Examples: Maybe a team or individual consistently comes in one place out of the money or misses the cut each year for the championship. Maybe it's a team or individual that stops and helps another team and it costs them the better part of their time and so on. The PMTT reviews all the entries each year and then picks the two teams or individual they find most deserving.

2010 Winners

The PMTT is proud to announce the winners of the 2009 DEW Award.

The first winner is Dale and Don Drew. Dale and Don are also a trail team that went out of their way during a tournament to help not only one of their fellow anglers but also a judge. This all happened during tournament fishing hours and costing them valuable fishing time. When they heard that another team was having trouble getting a judge to witness their fish, Dale and Don noticed that the judge was right by them and was having boat problems. Though another judge was on the way and only a couple minutes away, they still went over to the troubled judge, took him in their boat over to witness the release. Not only that, when they were done with the release, they took the judge in to get him help with his boat. The team that caught the fish went on to win the tournament and Dale and Don showed everyone good sportsmen ship and captured one of the 2009 $500 PMTT DEW Awards.

The second award goes out to Ed Haagenson. Ed has been fishing the trail since the PMTT was started. Through the years Ed has gone out of his way to not only help anglers and fellow competitors before and after the events, he helps fellow anglers out during the tournaments. Many anglers have told us about how helpful Ed is year in and year out, that not only does he help out when ever he can, he helps others during the tournament when he is actually competing against them. Several times every year anglers tell us about how helpful he was even during the event, that Ed has shown that one good deed deserves another and Ed is more then deserving of the other 2009 $500 PMTT DEW Award.

PMTT Conservation Donations

As part of the PMTT commitment to the preservation of habitat, the study of and management of muskies and basically anything to help keep the sport of musky fishing growing and for the betterment of the great outdoors in general, the PMTT has the conservation donation program. It is a program that is made possible from each and every angler that fished in the PMTT. As part of the PMTT anglers membership fee, the PMTT makes donations every year to different programs and organizations. From local projects that pertain to a certain body of water to national projects that benefit many different states and water bodies. So far to date, the PMTT and its members have donated over $16,000 to many different projects and organizations, some of which are:

  • Operation Green Gene.
  • Muskie Stocking
  • Illinois Conservation Foundation
  • The Muskie Symposium
  • Managing Minnesota Trophies – Educational DVD.
  • Aquatic Education program
  • State DNR offices
  • Fund raisers
  • Illinois Musky Association
  • Mullins Multiple Myeloma Foundation
  • Invasive species and milfoil study
  • Minnows for musky rearing
  • Many individual Muskie Inc chapters.
  • Muskie Inc. International
  • Different fund raisers for clubs and organizations.

If you would like to inquire about up coming donations or the PMTT making a donation to a particular project or organization in the future, please send the details of the project and/or organization and what they are trying to accomplish or their goals in an e-mail to the PMTT at info@promusky.com

Please remember, though the PMTT would like to help every outdoor sportsman and their effort, we cannot possibly do so. We will review each and every one of the request we receive and reply to them all. Though we may be fully supportive of your ideas and projects we have a limited amount each year for donations.
